Hmmm, did you ever hear about cloud services?

Cloud Android

Hmmm, did you ever hear about cloud services? Of course yes, Google Docs, Box.net, Dropbox and so on. But what about  mobile cloud services?  Maybe Instagram and three or four other applications, that’s all. Now I’ll try to explain what cloud service is, and why it’s so interesting for us. Cloud computing is a location-independent computing, in cloud computing, customers do not own the physical infrastructure; they use resources as a service and pay only for resources that they use. This technology allows much more professional computing by centralizing bandwidth, processing, memory and storage. A very good example for cloud computing is the mail websites like Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail or any other email websites. To use this application you do need any application or server; all you need is an internet connection to send and receive mails.

This technology will have a great impact on the mobile platforms and will give mobile users several advantages. With mobile cloud computing, service providers can share applications and resources without an investment of capital expenditure on software and hardware resources. All the data will be processed in the cloud rather than on mobile and the result will be displayed on your screen. Google, Yahoo, Facebook, etc are already providing mobile cloud services.
Mobile cloud computing is also beneficial for developers. Since, mobile cloud applications will let users to run application directly from the cloud, instead of installing it in their mobile phones. There will be no compatibility issues. Developers will have access to a much wider market; they can easily evade the restrictions created by mobile operating systems. Building applications for hundreds of handsets with different configurations are labor intensive and expensive. However, with mobile cloud computing, they can develop applications with less cost, as they have to develop application for only one platform (browsers). Many service providers like Verizon have already started to offer mobile cloud computing services.
However, the network latency and bandwidth are the major issue faced by the mobile cloud computing. Since, a cloud application requires a stable internet connection. But, as new technologies (for e.g. HTML5) are coming to the mobile phones, there are high chances that this problem will be vanished. The refinement of this technology is a big step towards the development of the mobile applications.
Mobile cloud computing will make future mobile phones more sophisticated. It will allow users to store their data in the cloud, rather than storing it on their mobile phones. These data will be accessible to them whenever they need. It is still unclear about the future of mobile cloud computing, but all the big companies like Microsoft, Google and Apple on the trends that will change the future of mobile. So what’s next, I think will try to create something “cloud”. If you have ideas share them with us =)
